Saiyaara..!

Yes I am talking about this song from Ek Tha Tiger! I hadn’t heard this song until very recently and I loved it instantly. The tune is really addictive. So obviously I heard it quite frequently, only to ponder later on what does this word mean anyway?! So I tried searching it and I loved the song even more when I got to know it means Planet. And that’s when I paid full attention to the lyrics of the song. The lyrics of this song are so serene, just strengthens my belief in love! Urdu language is seriously very beautiful and romantic. The basic theme of song is that ‘If not in this world, we both will become planets some day and meet in that world of stars’. Epic indeed. That’s exactly what ‘love you for eternity’ means, right? I do believe that a person becomes a star after dying. This was how mom explained death to me as a child. And this song gave that beautiful thought an even prettier facet. Not only in this living, materialistic world but love goes beyond all this. Someone you love may die but their love never dies. You carry it with you, in your heart, until death and meet them again. Such a beautiful thought. I know it sounds dreamy but I would still like to believe that such eternal and immortal love persists πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Aasmaan, tera mera hua,
Khwaab ki tarah dhuaan dhuaan,
Aasmaan, tera mera hua,
Saans ki tarah ruaan ruaan,
Ho jaaye jahaan tu jaaye,
Paaye mujhe hi paaye,
Saaye yeh mere Hai tujh mein samaaye,
Saiyaara main saiyaara,
Saiyaara tu saiyaara,
Sitaaron ke jahaan mein,
Milenge ab yaara..
Saiyaara main saiyaara,
Saiyaara tu saiyaara,
Sitaaron ke jahaan mein,
Milenge ab yaara.. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  1. wow!! thank you so much i got addicted to the song instantly too.. now i have a whole new meaning to be addicted even more!!

  2. Silly personals, It does mean a “planet”. Don’t you get the idea from the lyrics…? πŸ™‚

    • Umm actually I have mentioned that I was addicted to its tune and later pondered on lyrics after I searched what Saiyaara means! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› And I would have still searched to confirm the guess πŸ˜‰

  3. Awsome song..I believe the whole of Urdu language is beautiful..if you listen to old urdu songs of bollywood..they use to have a lot beautiful meaning and furthermore Muslim singers with heavy voice beautiful urdu accent use to make it more melodious..Trust me my mother tongue is hindi I bet hindi is not that serene n heart touching compared to Urdu even though hindi was created from urdu n sanskrit..
Not just saiyara..I even pondered on meanings such as Falak, Mukhtasar(teri meri kahani), Musalsil from raaz 3, Fiza,Aalam,Aalam Fanaah..

    • Heyy! Umm i do agree Urdu is a fabulous and soulfull language…but that doesn’t take anything away from hindi language! I’ll definitely search the meanings of the songs you have mentioned, i love love love Mukhtasar πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ do share the other old songs you like πŸ™‚

      • well lets accept the fact that hindi stand nowhere near urdu when it comes to touching heart..
Just sing akaash tera mera hua..
grahan tu mera grahan grahan main tera grahan..sitaro ke jahaan milega mera mitr (hindi version of saiyara)..quite funny..
their culture is more near to serentiy..
Well few songs that I listen to having bautiful urdu are of Rahat fateh ali khans, Shafqats..Atifs..
Even bollywood ppl dont compose songs in hindi coz they loose the romantic factor..they know Muslim urdu is much beautiful to bag much money..

      • Just because this particular song has Urdu words and has a good tune doesn’t mean that Hindi is not a beautiful language. Be practical and try converting some beautiful songs in Hindi into Urdu, they will sound just as absurd.

  4. Well lets appreciate that hindi is born from but urdu is more heart touching than hindi.
Just sing akash tera mera hua khwaab sa challa challa.grahand tu mera grahan.grahan mein tera grahan sitaron ki jahaan milega mera mitra..quite wicked..
There are songs from movie Prince that have got Atif singing with heavy voice Anjani si khwahish he..I am talking about the song n not his voice..but its got beautiful Urdu lyrics that make you wanna hear for more..

  5. Be greated friend .
It may be long way but it sounds true.
    First i am Arab .
Sayiaraa in arabic is taken from a verb that means ” to move / wander ”
so sayiaraa means the thing that moves .
However , other than meaning “a car ” the word sayiaraa in arabic is linked to what is called ” al kawakeb al sayiaraa ” i.e . . The moving stars/ planets .
Apparently when urdu took from arabic . . The word sayiaraa was taken as short cut for that long expression when ever to refer to what was then known as wandering stars or planets .
All in all . . I really think the best meaning would be sayiaraa . . The wandering star / planet .

    • Heyy friend πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
wow!!! That’s an amazing fact to know! Thankyou so much for explaining it, and that too so wonderfully πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
arabic and Urdu are both beautiful and soulful languages πŸ™‚

      • You are very welcome . πŸ™‚
very glad that you found it usefull .
May ALLAH grant you happiness here and in the life after .
